This season, Sea Star Festival brings a series of socially responsible activities, among which the beach clean-up activity named “Shiny Umag” and two-hour workshops dedicated to zero waste cosmetics are particularly noteworthy.

On Saturday, 25 May, from 10:00 a.m., a clean-up action “Shiny Umag” will be held for the Umag underwater and coastal area.

We invite residents of Umag and visitors to Sea Star Festival to join the action from 10 a.m., along with 10 divers from the Sveti Pelegrin Umag Sports Underwater Fishing Club, who will be cleaning the underwater part of the sea.

Registration for participation will be available at Trg slobode (Liberty Square) in Umag, at the stand of the Tourist Board of the City of Umag, where all those interested will receive T-shirts, gloves, waste bags, water and a voucher for a meal along with registration and a short education about the campaign.

The organisers, those who support this clean-up action and participate in it are the City of Umag, the Tourist Board of the City of Umag, YouSea, 6. May, BAUHAUS, Sports underwater fishing club Sveti Pelegrin Umag, Rentistra.com, Mar in co, Planet Matters, Croatian – Slavic Friendship Association, while through the ecological project REMEDIES, the University of Maribor, EXIT Foundation and Sea Star Festival participate in the organisation.

Two-hour workshops dedicated to zero waste cosmetics

Also, as part of the REMEDIES Project, Sea Star and EXIT Foundation offer an opportunity for those interested to learn more about zero waste cosmetics. The workshops will be organised on Friday and Saturday, 24 May and 25 May, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the festival vibe, on the beach near Hotel Umag.

Participants will be able to try zero waste cosmetics on the spot and learn more about the benefits. This activity is realised with the help of the National Chemical Institute in Slovenia, the main partner of the REMEDIES Project. Participation in the workshops is open to the public; everyone is welcome!

We would like to remind you that EXIT Foundation is part of the large ecological project REMEDIES, within the Horizon programme of the European Union and “EU Mission: Ocean”, dedicated to individuals, organisations, associated groups of people, and everyone who want to contribute to the ecosystem without plastic waste. More information is available on the project site.
